Operation To lock or unlock the vehicle: Physically touch the Card Key or smartphone Digital Key* to the center of the door handle for 2 seconds.To start the vehicle: Place the card key or smartphone Digital Key* on the wireless charging pad*.Digital Key* Placement Kia Digital Key* 2 With Kia Digital Key* 2, there is no need to physically take out the smartphone to unlock the vehicle. With NFC, the door can be unlocked when the customer is within proximity of the vehicle. Overview Available on EV9 (2024 and later).Utilizes NFC, UWB (Ultra-Wideband), and BLE (Bluetooth®* Low Energy) technologies.Users can share their smartphone Digital Key* with family or friends between different digital wallets (e.g. Apple®* Wallet to Samsung* Wallet).BLE allows users to use certain remote* commands through their wallet app, such as remote* lock/unlock, remote start*, and triggering the alarm. Note: Bluetooth®* must be enabled on the smartphone and be within 15 meters of the vehicle. Operation To lock or unlock the vehicle:Customers can passively unlock their vehicle without taking out their smartphone—the UWB technology can detect when the Digital Key* is nearby. The doors can also lock automatically when the vehicle is turned off and the customer walks away.UWB has a range of approx. 16 feet.To start the vehicle:With the smartphone in the vehicle, press the Start button while pressing down on the brake pedal. Smartphone Activation On the Kia Access* app, navigate to Digital Key, select Continue, then Continue to Wallet App. Follow the steps within the wallet app to add the vehicle’s key to your digital wallet.For smartphones equipped with UWB, the process can be completed just by following the steps in the wallet app.Smartphones without UWB can only be used for NFC-based smartphone Digital Key*. Follow the steps in the app and the vehicle’s head unit to complete the pairing process.
