KIA P2M Posts Favorite Operating Smart Cruise Control (SCC) Smart Cruise Control* (SCC), For illustration purposes only. Smart Cruise Control* (SCC) is available on select Kia models. SCC*, if equipped, is designed to help drivers maintain a predetermined speed and distance from vehicles detected ahead by automatically adjusting the driving speed. SCC* can slow the vehicle down or even bring it to a complete stop when it detects a vehicle ahead slowing or stopping. When the vehicle detected ahead starts to move forward within 3 seconds, SCC* can re-engage and accelerate the vehicle. Setting/Adjusting the Set Speed Accelerate to the desired speed, then press the Driving Assist* button (A) on the steering wheel. The SCC* indicator will illuminate on the instrument cluster, and the vehicle speed will be set.To increase or decrease the set speed, press the +/- switch (B) up or down. Setting the Vehicle Distance Press the Vehicle Distance* button (C) on the steering wheel.Each time the button is pressed, it will scroll through different vehicle-to-vehicle distances on the LCD screen (D). Fewer bars indicate less distance between vehicles. Pausing/Resuming SCC* Operation Press the Pause/Resume button (B). The SCC* indicator on the instrument cluster will change. Turning Off SCC* To cancel SCC* operation, press the brake pedal.To turn off the SCC* system, press the Driving Assist* button (A). The SCC* indicator on the instrument cluster will turn off. Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Overtaking Acceleration Assist Select models also feature Smart Cruise Control* (SCC) with Overtaking Acceleration Assist as part of the SCC* system. When SCC* with Overtaking Acceleration Assist is operating – If the system detects that the driver is going to pass another vehicle, then acceleration may be assisted to complete the pass. SCC* with Overtaking Acceleration Assist can also change the rate of acceleration based on the current drive mode.
