Remanufactured engines and transmissions are delivered to dealerships from the remanufacturing facility (Translead) without engine oil or transmission fluid. This is done to prevent possible leaks.

After installation, the remanufactured engine or transmission will need to be properly filled. Refer to the applicable Shop Manual on KGIS for proper engine oil/transmission fluid viscosity and capacity. Review PS302 when returning engine and transmission cores to Translead.

For best performance and maximum protection under all types of operation, always select lubricants which:

  1. Satisfy the requirement for API, ILSAC, or ACEA classification
  2. Have the proper SAE grade number for the expected ambient temperature range

Lubricants without the SAE grade number, API, ILSAC and ACEA service classifications on the container should not be used.

Failure to add the correct viscosity and/or capacity of engine oil and transmission fluid can cause engine or transmission failure.

As always, use KGIS for the most current service information.
