Features may vary

Enhance the delivery experience by introducing customers to Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates (on equipped vehicles), which can help keep their vehicle’s infotainment and navigation* systems up to date. For vehicles equipped with AVN 5.0 Wide head units, OTA updates may be automatic whenever new software is available. Models featuring the Connected Car Navigation* Cockpit (ccNC) offer updates for infotainment in addition to vehicle controllers like the Body Domain Controller, Cluster, and Wireless Power Charger.

Software Download and Installation

Whenever a software update is available, it’s sent wirelessly to the vehicle and downloads in the background. A small icon at the top right of the infotainment screen will indicate when a software download is in progress.

A notification may be sent to the smartphone once the update is ready to install.

After the download finishes, a pop-up* may appear on the infotainment screen once the vehicle is turned off. Press “Update Now” to install the software or choose “Later” to postpone it.

*The pop-up disappears if a door is opened, so ensure all doors are closed before shutting off the vehicle for the pop-up to appear.

For vehicle controller updates, certain conditions must be met before installation can begin, and during this time, the vehicle cannot be driven until the process is complete.

Once the installation is complete, a “What’s New” pop-up will appear on the infotainment system screen. Press “Details” for information about the update. A notification may also be sent to the smartphone.

Notes

  1. OTA updates are only available with a subscription to Kia Connect* Ultimate plan.
  2. OTA update duration and availability may vary by model.
  3. If the vehicle is turned off during the software download, the progress will be saved. The update will resume when the vehicle is turned back on.
