EV9 Hood Release Options

When delivering an EV9, take a moment to demonstrate how customers can open the hood. The EV9 offers multiple release options, giving drivers both convenience and peace of mind. Knowing all four methods will help you answer customer questions and can help prevent potential confusion.

Instrument Panel Button

1. Press the hood unlock button (A) on the instrument panel.
2. After the first press, press it again within 3 seconds to unlock.
3. Lift the hood upward. Once halfway open, it will rise fully on its own.

Smart Key Button

1. Press and hold the hood unlock button (B) on the Smart Key.
2. Lift the unlocked hood upward until it opens fully.

Kia Access App (with Subscription)

1. On a smartphone, open the Kia Access App.
2. Tap the dropdown arrow (D) to expand remote commands.
3. Press and hold Open Frunk to open the hood remotely.

Showing customers all four hood release methods highlights the EV9’s convenience and advanced design. This simple demonstration can build confidence in their new vehicle and reduce future service questions.

Emergency Hood Release Lever

1. Open the emergency hood release cover (C) on the left side of the footrest.
2. Pull the release lever twice.

Note: The hood will unlatch after the first pull, but a second pull is required. If the lever is not pulled a second time or if the hood is not fully closed before driving, a warning will display on the instrument panel.
