2022 EV6 GT-Line shown

Many customers want a vehicle that can empower an on-the-go lifestyle while keeping them connected where it counts—and EV6 measures up. Certain trims of the EV6 now offer an Onboard Power Generator* (vehicle-to-load, more commonly known as V2L), which utilizes the vehicle battery power devices and electronics both inside and outside the vehicle. In the event of a home power outage, the Onboard Power Generator* can even power household appliances, such as a microwave or portable heater. By making sure customers know how to access this feature, you can enhance their Kia EV ownership experience.

Interior Access

Located near the center bottom of the rear seats, this port can power electronics inside, such as a laptop or portable gaming system.

  1. Switch the VE button on the front, left side of the center console into the “On” position.
  2. Insert the mechanical key into the keyhole near the bottom of the rear seat and turn the key counterclockwise to unlock and open the port.
  3. Plug in the device. When finished, unplug the device, and lock the port door.

Exterior Access

Located in the vehicle’s exterior charge port, exterior access requires the Onboard Power Generator* connector, which comes standard with the feature. This port can power electronics, like an electric camping stove or portable TV.

  1. With the vehicle in PARK, open the charge port door and plug the Onboard Power Generator* connector into the charging port.
  2. Press the switch on the rear of the Onboard Power Generator* connector and verify the light on top of the connector illuminates, indicating the Onboard Power Generator* is active.
    1. NOTE: If the light doesn’t illuminate, there is an error, such as the battery being too low.
  3. Turn off the Onboard Power Generator* by pressing the switch on the rear of the connector and unplug it.
