Understanding Remote Smart Parking Assist^* (RSPA)

Imagine you’ve been driving in circles around a crowded parking lot for what feels like an eternity when you finally find an empty spot! The only problem? It’s a little tight. That’s where Remote Smart Parking Assist^* (RSPA) comes in!

Available on certain Kia vehicles, RSPA^* is designed to use multiple sensors to help customers remotely park and exit parking spaces from outside the vehicle using the Smart Key. While this tip will only review forward/reverse functionality, please be aware certain vehicles with RSPA^* also offer parallel/perpendicular parking assistance that will be reviewed in another quick tip. Let’s take a look!

RSPA: Forward & Reverse

Remotely Parking (from outside the vehicle):

1. While in the vehicle, shift into Park in front of a parking space, then press and hold the Parking/View button.
2. Exit the vehicle.
3. From a safe distance, press and hold the Forward or Backward button on the Smart Key to navigate the vehicle into the spot.
4. Press and hold the Remote Start^* button to turn off the vehicle.

Remotely Exiting a Parking Space (from outside with the vehicle off):

1. Press the lock button on the Smart Key.
2. Press and hold the Remote Start^* button within 4 seconds to start the vehicle.
3. Press and hold the Forward or Backward button on the Smart Key to navigate the vehicle out of the spot.
4. Release the button to stop the vehicle.

Important Reminders

• Customers can turn off RSPA^* at any point by pressing the Parking View button, the Park button on the dial shifter, or the Remote Start button on the Smart Key
• RSPA^* will only operate if the Smart Key is within 13 feet of the vehicle
• RSPA^* will NOT function when:
  • There is an open parking spot on one side of the vehicle
  • Attempting to park in a diagonal space
  • The parking space is too narrow or near a wall
