Depending on the model, there may be one of two exterior door handle types: Button o Capacitive Touch. Each type allows you to lock or unlock the driver’s door, all doors, and the liftgate when the Smart Key^* fob is within range.

Button-Type Door Handles

These handles include a physical button (A) on the driver and front passenger doors that controls locking and unlocking.

How to Unlock

• With the Smart Key^* fob nearby, press the button on the door handle.
  • Wait for a sound indicating the door is unlocked before pulling the handle.
• If 2-Press Unlock is enabled:
  • Press once to unlock only the driver’s door.
  • Press again within 4 seconds to unlock all doors and the liftgate.
  • You can turn this feature on or off in Vehicle Settings on the infotainment screen.

How to Lock

• With the Smart Key^* within range, press the button on the door handle to lock all doors.

These handles use sensors located on or around the door handle to detect touch.

How to Unlock

• With the Smart Key^* fob in range, reach into the handle and pull (A).
  • Wait for a sound indicating the door is unlocked before pulling the handle.
• If 2-Press Unlock is enabled:
  • Reach into the handle once to unlock the driver’s door.
  • Reach in again within 4 seconds to unlock all doors and the liftgate.
  • You can adjust this setting in Vehicle Settings.

Important note: The indentation on the handle is for locking only. It will not unlock the vehicle like older Kia models.

How to Lock

• Touch the indentation on the handle (B) while the Smart Key is within range.

Special Notes for EV6 and EV9

• When auto unlock is enabled, the handles pop out and unlock as you approach.
• To lock, touch the indentation.
• If auto unlock is disabled, the indentation must be pressed to unlock.

How to Enable or Disable the 2-Press Unlock Feature

• From the Setup menu, select Vehicle.

• Select Door.

• Tap 2-Press Unlock to turn the feature on or off.
