Wiper Operation – Kia America, Inc.

Ensure new Kia vehicle owners are acquainted with the operation of the front and rear wipers and the Auto Rain Sensing function (if equipped).

Front and Rear Wiper Basic Operation

To Operate the front wipers and washers:

Move the lever up or down to change wiper modes
- MIST: single wipe
- OFF: wiper off
- LO: slow wipe
- HI: fast wipe
- INT/AUTO: Intermittent/Auto Rain Sensing
Pull to spray and wipe

To operate rear wipers and washers:

Rotate the rear wiper switch to change wiper modes
Push lever to spray and wipe

Auto Rain Sensing (If Equipped)

The rain sensor on the upper part of the windshield detects rainfall by adjusting the wiper speed automatically—faster during heavy rain, slower or stopped when it eases.

To enable Auto Rain Sensing wipers, move the lever up or down to AUTO and adjust the speed by moving the speed control switch (A) up or down.

In most models, the wiper mode can be displayed in the instrument cluster and can be enabled/disabled in the user settings menu.

The wipers on some 2025 models (Telluride, Carnival, Sportage, Niro, EV6, EV9, Sorento, K5, and K4) are recessed below the hood or rear spoiler to provide an enhanced appearance and help reduce wind noise. To access the wipers, Wiper Service Mode enables you to lift the windshield wipers to clean the windshield, inspect or replace wiper blades, or raise wipers in snow/ice conditions.

Please refer customers to the Owner’s Manual and Features and Functions Guide (FFG) for instructions on how to lift the wiper blades.

To raise wiper arms:

Turn the vehicle ignition ON with the engine OFF, then turn the ignition OFF.
Within 20 seconds after turning the ignition OFF, move the Wiper Blade Control Stalk to MIST and hold it for more than two seconds.
The wiper arms on the front windshield will move upward and stop in the vertical position (C).

The wiper arms may now be moved away from the windshield for cleaning or replacement and placed back onto the windshield when done.

To lower wiper arms:

Turn the vehicle ignition ON with the engine OFF.
Move the Wiper Blade Control Stalk to MIST to return the wipers to the parked position.
Turn the ignition OFF.
