Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist* (FCA), For illustration purposes only

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist* (FCA) is designed to detect and monitor a vehicle ahead or a pedestrian in the roadway through front view camera recognition and front radar signals and can potentially warn the driver if a collision is imminent, and if necessary, temporarily apply emergency braking.

Initially, FCA* is designed to offer a Forward Collision Warning* (FCW) when it detects a potential collision with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist, emitting an audible warning and visual alert on the instrument cluster.

Features may vary

If the system detects that the collision risk has increased, FCA* is designed to automatically apply the brakes to reduce speed, potentially helping to reduce the effects of a possible collision.

Features may vary

FCA* is designed to activate under the following conditions:

  • Ignition switch is ON
  • Vehicle is traveling faster than 5 MPH
  • Electronic Stability Control* (ESC) is ON

Adjusting FCA* Settings

Activating/Deactivating FCA*
  • In the Infotainment System, navigate to Vehicle Settings > Driver Assistance > Forward Safety and choose from the following options:
    • Active Assist: Provides a warning message, an audible warning, steering wheel vibration (if equipped), and provides braking assist
    • Warning Only: Provides a warning message and an audible warning
    • Off: No warnings or assistance
  • Note: FCA* is on by default in most Kia models. FCA* will also be activated by default when the ignition is cycled on, even if it was previously set to OFF.
Adjusting FCA* Initial Warning Timing (If Equipped)
  • Navigate to Vehicle Settings > Driver Assistance > Warning Timing and choose from the following options:
    • Early: Maximizes the amount of distance between the vehicles before the initial warning occurs
    • Normal/Standard: Allows for a lower amount of distance between the vehicles before the initial warning occurs
    • Late: Greatly reduces the amount of distance between the vehicles before the initial warning occurs
Adjusting FCA* Warning Volume (If Equipped)
  • Navigate to Vehicle Settings > Driver Assistance > Warning Volume and choose from the following options:
    • High
    • Medium
    • Low
