Wiper Operation and Service Mode

Help familiarize your customers with the basic operation of the front and rear wipers and show them how to use the Auto Rain Sensing and Wiper Service Mode functions.

Front & Rear Wipers and Auto Rain Sensing Operation

In certain models, the wiper mode can be displayed in the instrument cluster as well. Customers can enable or disable this function in the user settings menu.

The wipers on some 2024 models (including Telluride, Sorento, Sportage, Niro, EV6, Stinger, Carnival, K5, Forte, and EV9) are recessed below the hood or rear spoiler to provide an enhanced appearance and help reduce wind noise characteristics. In order to access the wipers and avoid damaging the paint on the hood, these vehicles require the wipers to be put in Wiper Service Mode when cleaning the windshield, inspecting or replacing wiper blades, or raising wipers in snow or icy conditions.

Please also refer customers to the Owner’s Manual and Features and Functions Guide (FFG) for instructions on how to lift the wiper blades.

Operation – Raise Wipers

1. Turn the vehicle ignition ON with the engine OFF, then turn the ignition OFF.
2. Within 20 seconds after turning the ignition OFF, raise the Wiper Blade Control Stalk and hold it for more than 2 seconds.
3. The wiper arms on the front windshield will move upward and stop in the vertical position (C). On 2024 Sorento, Carnival, EV9, and Sportage, the rear wiper will also simultaneously move downward.

The wiper arms may now be moved away from the windshield for cleaning or replacement and placed back onto the windshield when done.

Operation – Lower Wipers

1. Turn the vehicle ignition ON with the engine OFF.
2. Move the Wiper Blade Control Stalk up to return the wipers to the “park” position.
3. Turn the ignition OFF.
