Charging is a key part of EV ownership, so it’s critical that you educate your customers not only about how to access the charge port but connecting and disconnecting the charger. With your help, your customers will be ready to hit the road in their charged-up EV!

Connecting the Charger

  1. Park and turn off the vehicle. Ensure the doors are unlocked.
  2. Proceed to the charge port location (front fascia for Niro EV or right-rear combination lamp for EV6). Press inward on the charge port door to open it.
    1. If equipped, you can also press the Charging Door Open button to the left of the steering wheel, below the driver-side vent.
  3. Insert the charger connector handle into the charging inlet.
    1. AC Charging: Ensure the charging cord is connected to the appropriate outlet or station, then plug the connector into the vehicle’s charge port. Push until you hear a click.
    2. DC Charging: Remove the lower DC pin cap of the vehicle inlet. Follow the DC Fast Charging* station instructions to connect the charger.
  4. Confirm the charging indicator light in the vehicle instrument cluster is ON. If the light is OFF, unplug the charger and reconnect it until the light turns ON.
  5. The estimated charging time will display on the instrument cluster for ~1 minute.
  6. Customers with active Kia Connect* accounts can use the Kia Access* app to remotely check their charging status at any time.

Disconnecting the Charger

  1. When charging is complete, the indicator light on the instrument cluster will turn OFF.
  2. Ensure the vehicle doors are unlocked. Hold the release button and pull out the charging connector handle.
    1. AC Charging: Close the protection caps of the charging connector and the charging plug.
    2. DC Charging: Refer to the instructions on the charger for how to disconnect.
