If equipped, the Smart Power Liftgate* with Auto Open & Close provides a premium, hands-free experience that can open or close the liftgate automatically when the Smart Key is detected nearby—no button pressing needed. Turning Smart Power Liftgate* On/Off From the infotainment system (ccNC Head Unit shown), go to Setup > Vehicle > Door > Smart Liftgate Auto-Open (When Approaching) With the Smart Key in your possession, walk to the back of the vehicle.When in close proximity, the hazard lights will blink and a chime will sound for about 3 seconds as an alert.Then the lights will blink and 2 more chimes will sound before the liftgate opens automatically. Auto-Close (When Walking Away) When you leave the detection area with the Smart Key, the system will: Chime 3 times as an alertThen chime 2 more times before the liftgate closes automatically Temporarily Disable Auto Close To temporarily turn off the Power Liftgate* Auto Close function, press the button (B) located inside the liftgate. This turns off Auto Close until the liftgate is manually closed and reopened. Smart Power Liftgate* Deactivation The liftgate will not operate when: The doors were recently closed & locked and the Smart Key is still detected after 15 seconds nearby or within 60 inches of the door handlesA door is not fully closed or lockedThe Smart Key is inside the vehicle Press any button on the Smart Key during the detect and alert stage to deactivate the Smart Power Liftgate function. Setting the Opening Height To personalize how high the liftgate opens: Manually position the liftgate to the desired heightPress and hold the open/close button inside the liftgate (A) for more than 3 secondsA double chime will confirm your height setting You can also set the liftgate to preset heights from the infotainment screen by going to Setup > Vehicle > Door > Power Liftgate Opening Height (Note: Menu location may vary by model) Lock Button (EV9) On EV9 models, the Power Liftgate* Lock Button (C) lets you close and lock the liftgate and lock all other doors.
