Electronic Parking Brake and Auto Hold

Select Kia models come with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) and/or Auto Hold. Let’s explore both of these features so you can feel confident explaining them to your customers.

EPB

Depending on the vehicle, the EPB can be located on the lower-left side of the instrument cluster or on the center console (A).

• To activate the EPB: Press the brake pedal, then pull up on the EPB switch.
• To release the EPB: With the vehicle on, depress the brake pedal and press the EPB switch.

Auto Hold

The Auto Hold feature is found in select Kia models and is designed to maintain the vehicle in a standstill even though the brake pedal is not pressed after the driver brings the vehicle to a complete stop by pressing the brake pedal.

• To activate Auto Hold: With the vehicle on, press the Auto Hold button (B). The white Auto Hold indicator on the dashboard shows the system is on standby.

The Auto Hold indicator will turn from white to green when the vehicle comes to a stop and Auto Hold is engaged. The vehicle remains at a standstill when the driver releases the brake pedal.

When the driver presses the accelerator pedal with the shifter in drive, the Auto Hold is released.

• To cancel Auto Hold: Press the Auto Hold button and the Auto Hold indicator will turn off. To cancel the Auto Hold when the vehicle is at a standstill, press the Auto Hold button while pressing the brake pedal.
