Kia EVs are leading the way—quite literally! Certain trims of the EV6 and Niro EV offer innovative Cruise Control Assist features that can help make driving on the highway less stressful by automatically assisting the driver in certain situations. Let’s take a closer look at the available Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go* (SCC w/ S&G) & Machine Learning and Highway Driving Assist 2* (HDA2).

Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go* & Machine Learning

This available feature builds on Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go* by learning and reflecting the driving style of the driver to help maintain distance from the vehicle detected ahead and drive at a speed set by the driver.

When INACTIVE, the system can learn the driver’s driving style, such as the preferred distance kept from the vehicle detected ahead, acceleration, and reaction speed. For example, if the driver likes to follow the vehicle ahead by three car lengths instead of two, the system can learn and apply this logic when activated. Then, when the system is ACTIVE, the function can drive in the learned driving style!

Highway Driving Assist 2* (HDA2)

This available feature builds on Highway Driving Assist* by being capable of helping the driver in maintaining a set distance and speed from a vehicle detected ahead, assisting with lane changes while driving on highways, and helping the vehicle stay in the center of detected lane markers while driving.

  • Lane Change Assist Control: HDA2* can help the driver automatically change lanes in certain situations. Lane Change Assist can be engaged when driving above a certain speed by holding the steering wheel and switching on the turn signal in the desired direction.
  • Distance Control: HDA2* can help automatically control vehicle distance from a vehicle detected ahead that may be cutting in at short range and low speed while driving on a highway.
  • Lane Following Control: When approaching a nearby vehicle in an adjacent lane, HDA2* can automatically apply offset driving within the lane to help avoid risk.

Together, these available Cruise Control Assist systems can help make highway driving less stressful for your customers! Be sure to check out Kia’s Features & Functions YouTube* Channel for videos on these features, and always refer to the Owner’s Manual for details!
